Londonderry is a vibrant town with beautiful neighborhoods, noted schools and a strong sense of community spirit. Londonderry offers the best of two worlds. It is a community that retains much of its rural character and charm while at the same providing its residents nearby shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. Interstate 93 and Manchester Airport are all easily accessible.
Londonderry was founded in the early 1700's by Scotch-Irish settlers and was once a part of the town of "Nutfield." The town common is surrounded by antique clapboard churches, community center and the state of the art Leach Library. Community pride is reflected in the "Old Home Days" events that are held at the common each summer.
Londondery's natural beauty is enhanced by the five orchards located in town. The state of New Hampshire has designated the roads connecting these orchards as a scenic highway called "The Apple Way." The five orchards offer apple. berry and pumpkin picking. They also host special events, such as picnics, apple blossom tours, corn mazes and winter sports. Londonderry is in the process of preserving these open areas for future generations through the use of conservation easements. They have spent nearly five million dollars in past few years to preserve nearly 400 acres of open space.
Londonderry Schools have an excellent reputation and are a high priority among residents. Londonderry is one of the few communities in southern New Hampshire to offer public kindergarten. Londonderry High School has undergone a major renovation and expansion.
Londonderry's commercial center follows route 102 from exit 4 off interstate 93. There are a variety of shopping opportunities at K-Mart, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Home Goods, Home Depot, Market Basket and Shaw’s. There is a 12 screen cinema located in town. Dining is available at the "99," The Homestead, or Cafe Teresa as well as many other places.
Overall, Londonderry is an appealing community, with a great location, and a full range of services, shopping and recreational opportunities available in town.
