Interest rates in southern New Hampshire have recently dropped to levels not seen for decades. This coupled with affordable pricing make now one of the best times to buy a home. Rates have recently dropped to the 4% range for fixed 15 and 30 year mortgages. This translates into thousands of dollars in interest savings over the term of the mortgage. On a $300,000, 30YR mortgage a 7% mortgage has P&I payment of $1995 vs. a 4.5% 30YR mortgage with a P&I payment of $1,520. That is a $475 per month savings.
